Born in Seville, José Porcel's precise footwork and steamy sensuality have helped make him one of the world's most famed flamenco dancers. He and his esteemed company draw on the roots of this treasured art form, created more than 700 years ago when Gypsy culture collided with the traditions of Andalusia in southern Spain. Porcel began dancing at age 13, moving on to perform with major Spanish companies like Ballet de Valencia and Ballet Nacional de España, before appearing in a show at the Hollywood Bowl, then going on to create his own ensemble.
