About CBC Fall 2015 Performances

Columbia Ballet Collaborative (CBC) is pleased to present a program of six original and restaged works for its upcoming fall performances. Founded in 2007 by five professional ballet dancers enrolled at Columbia University, CBC is comprised of students from all of the University’s undergraduate colleges and affiliates.

For the Fall 2015 season, Columbia Ballet Collaborative welcomes Robert LaFosse, former dancer with American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet; Morgan McEwen, founder of MorDance and former dancer with BalletMet and the Metropolitan Opera; Donna Salgado, artistic director of CONTINUUM Contemporary/Ballet; Avi Scher, freelance choreographer who has received commissions from Ballet West, Guggenheim Works & Process, ABT Studio Company and San Francisco Ballet School, and directed Avi Scher & Dancers for four years; and Connor Yockus, Columbia University student pursuing a B.A. in Dance and French Literature. Additionally, CBC is proud to present George Balanchine’s Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux.

CBC was featured in the August 2015 issue of Dance Spirit, October/November 2013 issue of Pointe, the November 2013 issue of Dance Informa and the March 2013 issue of Dance Magazine. In the past, it has also been featured in The New York Times and TimeOut NY as well as on VanityFair.com. CBC is committed to enriching the arts in the Columbia community and providing a platform for the collaboration between professionals in the New York dance community and Columbia University students. CBC is managed and directed by students and its members have danced professionally with companies such as Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Ballet West, Kansas City Ballet, New York City Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Orlando Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, and Tulsa Ballet. The New York Times writes, "New choreographic voices are rare in ballet, and the collaborative’s contribution in this respect has been vast already."

CBC is a recognized student group at Columbia University and jointly advised by the Office of Student Engagement and Barnard College’s Department of Dance. We thank the Department of Dance for its generous support and continued provision of rehearsal and performance time and space.

Sponsored in part by the Arts Initiative at Columbia University. This funding is made possible through a generous gift from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation.
