The greatest double bill in opera history returns to the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in a stylish production by Sir David McVicar. Roberto Alagna, Ekaterina Semenchuk and Eva-Maria Westbroek star in Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana", the story of a young soldier who reunites passionately with his now-married former lover, with tragic results. In the second half of the program, Alagna returns to the stage as the murderous clown Canio with Aleksandra Kurzak as his philandering wife in Leoncavallo's darkly comic "Pagliacci". Conductor Nicola Luisotti will be on the podium for this night of high drama.
