About Carlos Calvo

Carlos Calvo is too modest to tell you that he is one of the most badass guitar players you’ll ever hear. He cringes at the thought of listing all of his credits and professional experience. He just hopes you enjoy listening to his songs.

Carlos doesn’t remember choosing to become a guitar player, the guitar chose him. He grew up surrounded by world-class flamenco and classical guitarists, but he will tell you that his first inspiration came from the Beatles. When he was three years old, he heard “And I Love Her” and “Let It Be,” and begged an uncle to teach him. Since then, he has rarely spent a day without a guitar in his hands.

More than a decade of classical guitar training gave him a love for Bach and Barrios, but his love of music was also fueled by rock legends like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. His admiration for the Beatles and Bob Dylan, and a keen interest in literature and art, have deeply influenced his own songwriting.

In 2002, after decades of playing in and fronting successful bands, Carlos embarked on a career as a solo singer/songwriter. He balances elevated musicianship with carefully crafted songs and introspective and soulful lyrics.

When he is not writing, recording and performing his own music, Carlos teaches private guitar and songwriting lessons, is a guitar coach for film and television, does studio work and records and produces other musicians.
