About Carlin
Carlín is a master instrumentalist, vocalist, and overall performer who recently searched out a new feel for his music. The result was a signature sound that once you hear, you will never go back, says Marisol Castro (CT Styles, News 8, WTNH-TV, CT). Carlín’s music is a distinctive Pop Soul sound that will last throughout the ages as he plays the guitar and keyboards on his debut EP, Forever, released in 2014 and on newer singles such as the semi acoustic version of the track, Reason To Love.
The world took notice when Carlín co-produced the flagship and title song for MTV’s Take A Stand, Stop The Violence Campaign, helping the campaign’s album to win an EMMY® Award for its efforts to spread awareness for bullying and violence. Recently, Carlín has gained widespread attention for his soulful acoustic cover song arrangements on You Tube®. He also gained the attention of thousands in May, 2015 by headlining a talent showcase and co-producing the event with John Blassingame, C.E.O, New Day Associates, Inc. (Publisher: TBW Style Report / Black Men’s Mag. / Hype Hair Mag.).
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York as the son of a preacher, Carlín was trained in guitar, piano, and trumpet and in later years learned the arts of recording, mixing and producing. He has built a career in jingle writing and has performed and worked with many artists throughout the music industry, creating compositions in such genres as Children songs, Gospel Music, Classical Music, Jazz, Pop, and R&B. Carlín’s music is said to resemble that of Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight, John Legend, and Maxwell. However, his influences run deep into Classic Jazz, Blues, Soul, and Funk. Even with evidence of his influences, Carlín can take any instrument or song and give it his signature personality and once you are introduced to his voice and music, you will never forget him.
While constantly being called upon to write for, produce, and develop other artists in Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Soul music, Carlín awaits the release of his own new album in the middle of 2016. He also continues his work as an Independent artist, constantly writing and releasing new music on his website (www.carlinsmusic.com) and taking performance dates throughout the East Coast.
