About Buzz Feiten & Oz Noy

Buzz Feiten is an LA based guitarist and luthier who was at the forefront of the blues/jazz/rock fusion revolution during the late 60’s and early 70’s. He formed a band with keyboardist Neil Larsen called Full Moon and the record they released in 1971 made the most definitive statement on what music was to sound like in the coming decade. While it is standard practice today for contemporary jazz groups to combine funk, samba, rock, and world music influences, Full Moon was the first group to do it in totally musical, unforced way. Buzz’s ability to improvise lyrically and linearly combining jazz and blues influences into a completely personal style demands that he is placed in the pantheon of guitar greats in the 20th century ~ right up there with Jimi Hendrix and Charlie Christian.

And one could argue that Oz Noy belongs there as well. Originally from Tel Aviv, he is now well known to New Yorkers since he established his regular Monday night set at the Bitter End over 15 years ago. Since then his playing has received worldwide attention and awards and his recordings have set Oz laying it down with many contemporary greats ranging from Chick Corea to Allen Toussaint.

Frank Canino is a veteran NYC bassist who has played with Ray Charles, Ben E. King, Cornell Dupree, Dr. John and many other masters. He was the original bassist for Oz’s Bitter End gigs and, after hearing that Buzz was to be in NYC for awhile, immediately set out to make this night happen.

There are undoubtedly some hellified guitarists out there who are making unique and beautiful statements but these two men are doing so while retaining extremely deep roots in the blues. This will be the first time they have played together and sparks will undoubtedly fly! These veterans will be joined by a new arrival in NYC named Brandon Harvey. Brandon is a multi instrumentalist who ~ simply put ~ can more than cut it with these cats. Don’t miss him.

The band will be supported by the most excellent Lee Finkelstein on drums. Lee is currently the drummer for the Original Blues Brothers Band. In the past he has worked with Donna Summer, Ray Charles, John Tropea, Randy Brecker and Ben E. King to name but a few.
