About Brown Ledge Cabaret - Saturday Night at Brown Ledge

Brown Ledge began as “the different camp” in 1927 when the founder of Brown Ledge decided to put his beliefs about learning and camping, about freedom and responsibility, and girls and youth into practice. We trust campers to learn to choose the activities that interest them the most. Many of the long term benefits of summers at Brown Ledge are related to the traditions and philosophy that guide us.

“Brown Ledge is a non-profit camp that exists to develop community, self-discipline, responsibility and achievement in girls and young women, through self-directed participation in a varied activities in a high quality summer program.”

Since it’s inception, Harry and Marjorie Brown, sought to create Brown Ledge Camp as a program that is not only challenging and educational, but fun and flexible as well.

Our self-directed participation derives from our “Freedom of Choice” philosophy. Harry and Marjorie Brown operated Brown Ledge in 1927 with the freedom of choice philosophy as the framework for camp, and it still exists today.
