About Brandi & The Alexanders, On The Sun

On The Sun is a live band based in Brooklyn, NY creating original music influenced by soul, rock, funk, americana and psychedelia. With all members contributing as writers, arrangers, and/or producers, the group's collaborative process yields frequent new material and they are currently recording a follow up record to their self-titled LP debut.

???We have been fussin??? and fightin??? for far too long,??? cautions lead singer Brandi Thompson on "Bad Love." Recorded at Mighty Toad Studios in June, the tune offers a taste of bittersweet heartache amid the upbeat, head-bobbing, toe-tapping repertoire of Brandi & the Alexanders. With a sound nestled between old-school soul and west coast R&B, this 10-piece band is bringing back a classic style with songs about second chances, hard goodbyes and fresh starts.

Fueled by personal experiences, the powerful, raw emotion with which Brandi wails and writes has been heating up venues across New York City since 2012. From fall of 2013 through the summer of 2014, the band held down a monthly residency at The Way Station, a small performance venue in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. There, they developed originals, instrumentals and dozens of eclectic covers, including TLC???s ???Waterfalls???, The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" and Allen Toussaint???s ???Mean Man??? to name a few.

Out of those sweaty, exuberant, packed-house nights, Brandi & the Alexanders built a distinct sound that led them from Brooklyn to venues like Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End.
