About Brahms' "A German Requiem"

Brahms' Choral Masterwork "A German Requiem" at Lincoln Center

To help him deal with the grief of losing his mother, Johannes Brahms composed one of his monumental works, "A German Requiem", in 1865. Sung in German (rather than the traditional Latin), the piece launched Brahms on the international stage and remains one of his towering achievements. In this Manhattan Concert Productions event, the Masterwork Festival Chorus, New York City Chamber Orchestra and Texas Tech University Chamber Orchestra and Choir unite to bring this masterwork and Samuel Barber's "Agnus Dei" to life at Lincoln Center.
