About "Bed Bugs and Beyond"

NYC Pests Finally Get a Voice in Social Comedy "Bed Bugs & Beyond"

New York City is currently facing a bed bug scourge. But who's sticking up for those annoying little mattress pests? Cheekily described as "a vulgar hemoglobic fantasy with lofty intent," "Bed Bugs and Beyond" gives voice to a host of sympathetic bug characters -- including a victimized female bed bug fighting to correct injustices, a bed bug of questionable gender and a male bed bug fueled by testosterone poisoning -- along with a self-proclaimed "exterminating angel." With their second-class status and perceived "perverse" sex lives, this original play slyly draws metaphorical parallels between the vitriol with which we speak about bed bugs and the political attacks currently being waged against women and members of the LGBT community.
