About Bambara, Dances, Second Still

"Seeing a Bambara set live is sorta like getting trapped in a long, dark corridor with the vague sensation that you are being followed by the thing that terrifies you most … so long as what you're scared of is experimental indie bands with a tendency to be mellow very loudly." - Weekly Dig Boston

Dances is Trevor Vaz, Sam Stoeltje, and David Su - three friends living in Brooklyn,
NY. Together, they play strange but straight-to-the-heart rock music influenced by 60s psychedelic, classic NYC punk, and Blur-era Britpop.

Trevor plays guitar, Sam plays bass, and David plays drums. They all sing. Their wholly collaborative process makes for an eclectic sound and an unhinged live show. The band is especially well-acquainted with their local DIY circuit, but they have also graced bigger stages like those at Rough Trade and Baby's All Right. In February, they had a month-long residency at Manhattan's Pianos to prepare for a Spring tour to SXSW.

Dances released their debut EP, Whiter Sands, last year via Black Bell Records. This EP was recorded at Brooklyn's Strange Weather with producer Daniel Schlett (DIIV, Here We Go Magic, Ghostface Killah), who they recently returned to work with on a full-length. The album, Keep Talking, and is due out on Black Bell/Gigawatts July 31st.

Second Still was formed in Los Angeles in 2009 by Ryan (guitar), Alex (bass), and a drum machine. After moving to New York in 2011 they went through various vocalists until eventually sticking with Suki, a vocalist they finally felt was a perfect match for their sound. Drawing on influences from labels such as 4AD and Factory Records, Second Still has created a unique sound that expresses a love of early post-punk and coldwave while at the same time retaining its originality.
