About Audrey Kate Geiger feat. Charles Warren Orchestra, Mel Childs, Liquor Radio
Singer/Actor/Model. A William Esper Studio grad, Audrey Kate has always loved to perform. Her vocal styles are inspired by Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse, capturing a cool, contemporary jazzy vibe. Resides in NYC, but a jersey girl at heart.
For singer/songwriter Mel Childs, music is one of the most important expressions of self, life, and love. A Philadelphia native, she approaches everything with pure passion and intensity, using life experience to craft music straight from the heart.
The digital release of singles, "Walk On" and "Love Out Loud" represents the anticipated debut of Mel Childs as an artist and songwriter. They are also part of a collection of songs that were born out of Mel's life journey over the past decade. The complete collection will be Mel Childs's first EP entitled, "Love, Mel" and slated for release in 2014.
A love of music came at an early age for Mel Childs. She started singing shortly after she could talk and hasn't stopped since. At four years of age, she was already performing a solo in front of an audience of hundreds. Throughout her youth, she performed in various choirs, helping her develop a deep musical appreciation and foundation that spans across the genres of classical, jazz, folk, Broadway, and popular music. It was here that she would develop a keen ability to both dissect and create harmonies, experience that would later have a special influence on her music.
The driving pop/rock sounds of Mel Childs are a reflection of her past and present. She grew up listening to gospel, contemporary Christian music, and oldies in the early years and later in her youth fell in love with alternative rock, neo-soul and hip/hop. In her adult years, Mel Childs points to country music as a major musical influence. The music of such artists as Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Nas, Alanis Morrisette, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Amel Larrieux, Maxwell, Tracy Chapman, Alison Krauss has informed Mel Childs' unique fusion of pop, rock, soul, and funk.
It was in 2000 that Mel Childs moved to New York City and wrote her first song. She fell in love with NYC and proceeded to grow into the person and artist she is today. 13 years later, Mel Childs is now ready to share her experiences of strength, perseverance, inspiration and love.
And, most importantly, she wants to share her first love with the world.
They began gathering on a hill and wishing it was a mountain. Each evening they climbed that hill and each night after the sunset they came down, crossed the field, and returned to the shores were murky water waves crash on beaches of infinite salt and sand.
