Based on a Israeli and Latin American roots, the duo Alon Yavnai – Joca Perpignan is an encounter between two eclectic musicians that have in common a passion and a big respect for the African music, the mother of rhythms, as well as the Latin American music and the Jazz.
A wide and rich international experience as musicians brings to their music a variety of culture influences from different parts of the world, such as Brazil, Israel, Peru, Cuba, Cape Verde and more, creating a colorful and exciting concert.
The duo has performed in several festivals and concert halls worldwide:
• The Punta del Este Jazz festival (Uruguay)
• Red Sea Jazz festival (Israel)
• The Givatayim Jazz Festival (Israel)
• The Zinc Bar (New York, USA)
• Mercedes Jazz Club (Valencia, Spain)
• Sala Baden Powel (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
ALON YAVNAI
Born and raised in Israel, pianist and composer Alon Yavnai is one of the most eclectic musicians today, who performed in West Africa, Europe, United States, Asia and South America.
Some of the artists whom Mr. Yavnai performed and recorded with include Yo Yo Ma, Nancy Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, Paquito D'Rivera, Joe Lovano, The New York Voices, Regina Carter, Brazilian singers Rosa Passos, Joyce & Leni Andrade, Peruvian singer Arturo "Zambo" Cavero, Cape Verdean singers and songwriters Ramiro & Joao Mendes, among others.
Mr. Yavnai has three albums as a leader, and has performed in numerous festivals around the world. Other performance appearances include Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and solo appearances with the Zurich Symphony orchestra and the Colon Theater Philharmonic Orchestra in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In addition to his career as a pianist, Mr. Yavnai wrote music for documentaries, and writes music regularly for the NDR Big band in Hamburg, with whom he has released an album in 2012.

JOCA PERPIGNAN
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) Joca Perpignan is a percussionist/vocalist/songwriter with a multicultural background and over 20 years of international musical experience. At the age of 15 Joca moved to Tel-Aviv and has developed a successful career in both countries, Brazil and Israel.
Joca is currently a member of the israeli known group The Idan Raichel Project and he is currently releasing his second solo album "Manso Balanco" (Saladesom Records/ High Fidelity Records – Brazil/ Israel) with original music, featuring great special guest artists including singers Mira Awad, Din Din Aviv, Delcio Carvalho, clarinetist Anat Cohen, pianist Alon Yavnai and more.
His first album (Entreventos) was released in 2006 by the Brazilian label Lumiar Discos.
Over the years, Joca has presented his music at international festivals and clubs, including the Praia do Forte Jazz Festival (Bahia, Brazil), the Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel), the St. Petersburg Latin Festival (Russia); the Punta del Este Jazz Festival (Uruguay), the Zinc Bar in New York city , the Mistura Fina and Sala Baden Powel in Rio de Janeiro.
As a side-man percussionist, the Brazilian-Israeli musician has performed worldwide and has worked with top artists from all over the world including Brazil: Armandinho Macedo, Joao Donato, Jussara Silveira, Luciana Souza, Denise Reis, Paula Morelenbaum, Aurea Martins, Beth Carvalho, Jorge Aragao, DJ Marcelinho DaLua; Cape Verde: The Mendes Brothers, Mayra Andrade; Cuba: Paquito D'Rivera; Colombia: Edmar Castaneda and Israel: Matti Caspi, Yoni Rechter, Arik Einstein and more.
