About ADESUWA, Surf Rock is Dead, The Visions, Monogem

ADESUWA is a new project based in Brooklyn led by Denitia (of denitia and sene.).

Originally hailing from Chicago and Melbourne, Australia, Kevin Pariso and Joel Witenberg--together Surf Rock is Dead--embody the beachiness of their namesake's genre through a new wave filter. Praised by Noisey and EARMILK, the duo's captivating live show is crashes over you in the best way possible.

From the first note you hear to the last note you hear. A great old fashioned high energy American Rock N Roll Show. The Visions are bringing their brand of Original American Roots Music to Central Illinois. You will love their music which mixes many styles and sounds from Blues and Rock that have influenced us throughout our lives. The Visions music will make you pause and ponder as they testify about the lives and loves of everyone through song!
What started as Singer/Songwriter Todd Hursh's studio project has morphed into The Visions. Todd who left home for Nashville at 18 played 15 years on the road returning to raise his son Zack in Heyworth IL. Now he leads The Visions with his skill and well-honed style. With Todd as lead singer/bass and Jon Boy Edwards on drums they are by far one of the best rhythm sections you will ever hear. Zack Hursh lead and rhythm guitar/mandolin/vocals plays with a stoic manner but his sure handed style and innovative technique make him sound anything but stoic. Kraig Koch on Keyboards/Vocals is always energized with a unique and classical style of playing keyboards filled with emotion.
With the release of their first CD "A Better View" They are ready to bring their show of all original music to a wider audience. While playing at many local venues over the last year and half they have made a commitment to just performing their own music. It's paid off very well. Having performed many times live on "Party on The Patio" on The Whip 98.3 FM In studio and live from Six Strings in Bloomington, opening for Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies out of Nashville at The Outpost In Armington, IL, another opener at the Outpost for PeeWee Moore out of Austin Tx. in mid-June.
On a Thursday night in April The Visions had the honor of competing against 7 other very worthy bands at the first ever "Battle of The Bands" at The Castle Theatre in Bloomington, IL. With a 4 person panel of judges that included Chicago Farmer and Edward David Andersen The Visions were crowned "critics' choice" Kings of the Castle. Awarded the opportunity to open for a headline act at The Castle Theatre in the near future.
First note to the last! They play with emotional intensity that makes you feel part of the music! First note to the last!

Ethereal and distant, but somehow wistfully familiar, MONOGEM is a mystery ready to be revealed. With glittering melodies and bursts of electronica, all blissfully combined with just a potent hint of throwback disco, MONOGEM returns with new single, Stay With Me, an electropop love song, as infectious as it is affectionate.
Fronted by singer/songwriter Jen Hirsh, MONOGEM is a collaboration with producer/songwriter, Scott Smithtogether, the duo takes us on an intoxicatingly refined journey through delicate vocals, dizzying harmonies and dance ready synths.
MONOGEM first made their graceful debut with single, Wait And See which was exclusively premiered by Billboard.com. Since then, the duo have been building momentum at an incredible pace, with features and praise pouring in from major tastemakers like VICE's Noisey, NYLON, and Elle Magazine as well as burning hype from wellrespected outlets in the blogosphere like Pigeons and Planes, Indie Shuffle, Hillydilly and Sound Is Style. MONOGEM was quick to chart in the HypeMachine popular charts, peaking in the Top 5 and quickly followed with second single, Follow You, a bass heavy track that is an obvious nod to their disco and vintage roots.
"It's about letting go and transporting yourself into another realm," Hirsh muses of the upcoming selftitled EP. "Everybody can relate, or at least I hope so, to that feeling you get on the dancefloor." And with flourishes of electronica elegantly stacked against emphatic and uplifting melodies, the duo make it blissfully easy to escape into theiralternateuniverse. MONOGEMarriveswithincredibleforce, from another world where pop music still has sentiment and soul. And just a bit of funk.
The highly anticipated selftitled MONOGEM EP is due in January 2015.
