About "A Band of Angels"

Teen Time Travels to Learn About African-American Spirituals in "A Band of Angels"

Some of today's most popular children's songs are also traditional African-American spirituals -- and both are at the center of New York City Children's Theater's new production of the musical "A Band of Angels". Who better to enlighten and uplift Ella, a pop-culture obsessed teenager living in the Bronx, than the Fisk Jubilee Singers? When Ella's transported back in time to meet the choir -- which was founded shortly after the Civil War and still exists at Fisk University, one of the first schools for freed slaves -- she gains a new appreciation for history and education. Come hear "This Little Light of Mine" when the Mint Theater hosts this NYCCT revival.
