Bethpage is one of the most storied golf complexes in the country, most recently having played host to the 2002 U.S. Open (Black Course). Bethpage is made up of five championship golf courses: the Black, the Blue, the Green, the Red and the Yellow. The Black course is Bethpage's masterpiece, measuring 7,295 yards from the tips. Only a half-hour drive from New York City, Bethpage is also nationally renowned for its extraordinary value. Van Cortland Golf Course

This New York City golf course in the heart of the Bronx is the oldest public golf course in the United States, hosting its first round in 1885. Featuring numerous bunkers, and water intersecting the course, Van Cortland plays 6,122 yards from the tips. Despite the feel of a rural golf experience, Van Cortland also offers views of the city skyline and Yankee Stadium. Past notable regulars at Van Cortland include Babe Ruth and the Three Stooges. |
Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course

Montauk Downs is a scenic links-style Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course situated at the very end of Long Island. This New York golf course a bit of a hike from Manhattan, about 128 miles, but it's well worth the journey. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

This exclusively private New York golf course is considered the first world-class golf course built in the United States, opening in 1891. Since then, Shinnecock has lodged itself firmly in the annals of golf history and legend. Shinnecock is a three-time host of the U.S. Open, and will bear the honor a fourth time in 2004. About 45 minutes to an hour from Manhattan, Shinnecock allows public visitation, however only members may play. |
Marine Park Golf Club

This urban track is a flat, tree-lined design in the center of South Brooklyn. It's a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design, and since its opening in 1964 it has seen quite a bit of heavy play. Despite that however, reviewers comment that it's a well-maintained, fairly straightforward golf course. |
