With choreography by Petipa and an unforgettable score by Tchaikovsky, "Swan Lake" is a full-length fantasy ballet that tells the story of a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. This classic production debuted in 1877 and is widely considered the national ballet of Russia. The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union's ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom. Now this esteemed Russian company brings to the stage one of the most magical and well-known works from the classical ballet repertoire to NYC.
