It may bring to mind the sandy beaches and glittering waters of the Caribbean where it was first distilled, but rum is capable of so much more than spiking a frothy umbrella drink -- not that there's anything wrong with that. The New York Rum Festival at S.O.B.'s in Manhattan features a four-hour "Rum Aficionado" session featuring arts and crafts, music, mixology demos, plenty of samples from a variety of brands and a souvenir tasting cup.
