"Jamaica": Musical Treasure Celebrates 60th Anniversary

In celebration of the legendary musical's incredible 60th anniversary, Harlem Repertory Theatre presents "Jamaica". A true Broadway treasure that opened in 1957 and made a theatrical star of Lena Horne, the show features a book and score by the creative duo behind the unforgettable songs of "The Wizard of Oz" -- Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Set just off the coast of Jamaica, the story centers on a simple island community in a fight to stave off the overreach of American commercialism. Surprising sets, colorful costumes and Calypso-inspired songs combine in "Jamaica", coming to the stage of the Tato Laviera Theatre at Harlem Repertory in New York City.
